Last month, RØDE was invited to attend the annual URM Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, the biggest weekend for rock and metal producers, mixers and recording engineers for 2019. Unstoppable Recording Machine (URM) is an online education platform offering a huge library of courses, tutorials and practical recording and mixing lessons for aspiring producers in rock and metal.

The URM Summit is an opportunity for members of the community to come together and learn directly from the best of the best, including producers Jens Bogren, Dave Otero, Forrester Savell, and Machine, industry professionals like Joel Wanasek and Mary Zimmer, and a special performance by Canadian technical metal band Archspire. RØDE’s Artist Relations Coordinator Jason Turnbull was on-ground in Las Vegas getting amongst the action.
“It was awesome to have been invited to share our passion for music and recording with the URM community,” he says. “The Summit was a great opportunity to return to our studio audio roots, and to do so with such a focused and talented group was a great experience. Both RØDE and URM share a passion for equipping the next generation of audio engineers with the tools they need to succeed in the industry.

VIP ticket holders at the Summit were each presented with a RØDE PodMic, a podcasting microphone that also happens to compliment harsh heavy metal vocals extremely well. Producer Dave Otero and Archspire vocalist Oli Peters used the PodMic during a live tracking masterclass to great acclaim from the two-hundred-plus audience in attendance.
"In real-time, the entire audience, including myself, were all witness to the power and versatility the PodMic displayed,” says URM Community Manager John Maciel, “URM VIP Summit attendees walked away with what will surely become a new studio standard microphone to have in their mic lockers.”
“We love partnering with RØDE on projects because they really ‘get it’,” says Eyal Levi, CEO and Founder of Unstoppable Recording Machine. “The world around us is changing at a lightning pace and RØDE is one of the few audio companies who are aggressively taking full advantage of new technologies and methods for doing business and getting the word out there. They also make some killer microphones.”
You can find out more about Unstoppable Recording Machine at the URM website. We look forward to continuing to supporting URM and their community in 2020 and beyond.
