'Saudade' is a Portuguese word for a deep emotional state of melancholic longing for a person. The film is a visual and audio representation of the love of someone and life after losing them.

Our sets included various locations including Chicago and Michigan. To get the richness of each scene from beach to hospice, we transitioned from a Canon 5D and 7D with 100 mm macro lens, Black Magic Ursa, and Sony A7 on a variety of rigs including Ronin-M stabilizer, Kessler slider, and a Kessler crane all on loan from a various sources. We included Phantom 4 QuadCopter shots for perspective. We decided to use the Rode Video Mic Pro (compact directional on camera) for all our audio to retain consistency and robust sounds across the film. Our goal was to focus less on language to build the world in sound. In this, we have one line of dialogue and only a short chorus to maintain a deep connection to the life of the two characters. All our editing was done in the Adobe creative suite, utilizing Premiere and Audition to complete the film's transitions in color for memory and gradual progression into sadness from a visual vantage.
